During fiscal year 2007, 502 young people between the ages 18 and 21 exited Maryland's foster care system. Of those 502 youth, only 39 were identified as being reunited with family, adopted, or under the guardianship of a relative while 463 of our community's most vulnerable youth either aged-out, or were listed as "runaways" or "missing." Maryland's foster care youth and alumni needs all of our help!

The vision of MFYRC is to provide a variety of supportive resources for both youth in foster care and alumni of the foster care system through a "one stop (physical and virtual) shop" that connects these youth in Maryland with resources and programs already provided by local non-profit organizations. MFYRC will actively reach out not only to these youth in care to show them how to be resourceful and connect them to the services they need, but will actively reach out to the organizations in the community to find out what they do and how they can make interested foster youth aware of their services.
